Field Employees' Performance Review Tips

Table of Contents

All companies seriously need a performance review to measure the performance of their employees. However, for industries that manage field employees (salesmen, merchandisers, drivers, couriers) such as distribution companies, logistics, consumer goods, services, and other companies, the performance review is even more tricky, with geographically scattered field teams.

Here are some tips for running an employee performance review:

1. Setting targets for each employee

The obligations and responsibilities of each employee are different. For example, salesmen and merchandisers visit the store, but their tasks are totally different. So, please make sure the tasks they perform align with their job descriptions. One way to measure their performance is by looking at the achievement of metrics as illustrated below.

2. Collecting employee assignment data

After setting targets and KPIs, companies can use applications like Advotics, which can record all employee tasks and directly convert them into KPI progress from the field staff’s cellphone to make data collection easier.

3. Reviewing performance through a dashboard

Compare employee performance between an earlier period vs. now accurately, also provide feedback and best measures based on the performance review result. If their responsibilities have improved over the last assessment period, make sure to appreciate them. If not, there must be an introspection from the supervisor.

For the assessment, supervisors can use software like Advotics to easily convert all spreadsheets’ data to a dashboard, to ease the review.
